Thinking Outside Of The Box Bloghop: VOORJAARSMANDJE/ SPRINGBASKET (met stap voor stap tutorial)

Hello and welcome to the February Bloghop of the Thinking Outside of the Box Design Team! You just started this bloghop here, or you got here through my charming colleague from the UK Zoe Tant

Theme of this month is making a basket, in which you can put something nice or sweet, like a small gift.

For my creation I was inspired by old wood baskets. As a lover of vintage objects I really like them. The structure, the thin weathered wood, the way the baskets are constructed and the weaving...all have inspired me.

And this is what I made, a very springlike giftbasket!

Met een gevlochten look! (nou ja... zo ongeveer dan... ;o)

And it looks like the wood is woven (well.. sort of... ;o)

Ofcourse I wil tell you how I made it. So join me and make one too! I will show you all the steps in a phototutorial

Constructie/Construction:

For the basic part of the basket, take a piece of Sahara Sand Cardstock of 17 x 21 cm. Put it in front of you lengthwise and stamp it allover with the woodtexture stamp from the set Timeless Textures and Crumb Cake Ink as shown on the picture. It doesn't have to be perfect!

Now score the cardstock as shown on the picture.

The next step is making a numbers of cuts, as shown with the red lines in the following picture. You can first draw them and then cut them with scissors, or you can cut them rightaway with your Stampin Trimmer. Just as you prefer. The distance between the cuttinglines is 1 cm and we do it on all four cornerparts

Now we have this ( this is the backside/inside)

Dit leggen we even aan de kant. We gaan nu eerst twee stukjes Sahara Sand cardstock snijden van 3 x 5 cm. Beide  stukjes bestempelen we op deze manier

We set this aside and now first cut two new pieces of Sahara Sand cardstock of 3 x 5 cm. We stamp  both pieces as shown.

And we cut them as shown to make 6 small pieces:

We take the basicpart again and place these six small pieces on the stamped flaps in the middle, three on each,  like this and we glue them on the flaps.

Now fold all the foldlines and carefully burnish the folds with a Bonefolder

Plak flapje twee OP flapje 1.

To make the round part of the basket, we Always begin from the middle and then go to the outside. Look carefully at the pictures. For easier explanation I give all the small flaps a number starting in the middle. Glue flap 2 ON flap 1. Here I used Multi Purpose Liquid Glue to make it easier to see for you, but Mini Glue Dots work great too! You only have to put one on the top of the flap

Now we attach flap 3 UNDER de first two flaps. We attach flap number 4 ON them, Flap 5 UNDER them etc until all eight flaps are done. This technique looks nice and gives texture and depth. When you did it the right way, your basket looks like this now.

We do the same on the right side. Again start from the middle and glue flap 2 ON flap 1 and go on the same way.

Ofcourse you already understand we have to repeat this on the other side of the basket. And then we have this:

Now we attach the round parts to the middle big flap. Make sure the upper parts form one straight line!
 Kijk, zo dus!

Like this!

Now we take two pieces of Sahare Sand Cardstock of 2 x 18 cm ( not 8, as I wrote on the example, OOPS!) and score the middle line

We stamp both pieces again, fold them, and adhere them with Tear& Tape Adhesive. After that we shape them a bit with the Bone Folder

We set them aside, because it is easier when we do some decorating first.

Versiering/ Decoration:

Diecut two squares (5 cm) from the lovely Tutti Frutti DSP and two Scalloped Squares from Whisper White Cardstock with the layering Squares Framelits

Glue the squares as shown and score a diagonal line on the backside of both.

Now we fold the squares and adhere them to the sides of our basket.

Now we attach the handles with Glue Dots as shown and we put on some Enamel Shapes as fake attachers. This is also a lovely color accent!

As a finishing touch we make a nice label to decorate our basket. With the Fruitstamps, the matching punches, and washitape that al coordinate perfectly with the DSP it will soon look lovely!

Al met al ziet het er best "echt" uit he? Maar ook schattig!

All together it looks rather realistic and cute, doesn't it?

Helemaal in stijl!

Ofcourse it is great to put some Sweet Soiree Ready Shreddie in the basket and ofcourse a sweet gift( I took some bottles of fruity bathfoam, but something else, like fruitdragees is nice too) and your present is ready to go!
